Our Love Story

Picture of Our Love Story

You’ve all known Aashish and Sarah for quite some time now, but if you don’t know either of them, you are on the wrong page: stop snooping around!

What you may not know is their beautiful love story; they are the prime example of successful online dating. Both were super organized in answering their online quiz and matched at 97% before they met. God knows how many hours they each spent checking and rechecking their answers but, it was only a matter of time before they knew they were a perfect match; not 97% but, 100%.

Their wedding is set to be 7 years (to the day) of their first meeting at Sienna Mercato. On their first date, they spent hours talking about everything; it seemed that they had known each other forever. A series of dates followed the first, involving lots of navigation around current dating norms, exploring different cuisines, visiting different small towns around Pittsburgh, and doing what they both love: travel and food. It didn’t take more than a couple months for them to realize that in spite of the vast cultural differences, they were both old souls in many ways.

It was time for family introductions: and they aced it! Family and friends on both sides were always warm, supportive and welcoming, but it was critical to ensure that Kenisha and Vihaan were involved (and happy) about the evolution of this beautiful relationship.

In the beginning, the children saw Sarah simply as a friend of their dad (can’t believe they were so naive, Kenisha says she knew all along)! But on one day, their babysitter accidentally shared that Sarah was dating their dad, and was not just a friend.

Once the ice was broken, life became a lot simpler. The four of them were now a unit enjoying their vacations together, celebrating the holidays and being present for each other.

Aashish was labeled, the sloth, (for his very slow progress) and Sarah, the bumble bee, (for constantly trying to move the relationship to the next step). To everybody around Sarah and Aashish, the couple seemed to be traveling in the same direction towards marriage, but at agonizingly different speeds.

What sped the process of their relationship, was the introduction of this new virus that we all know, now, as COVID-19. Yes, you guessed it right! They are a COVID couple! Their relationship didn’t only survive COVID times, it blossomed.

During the pandemic, Sarah and Aashish moved in together and experienced first hand the beauty of being one. In fact, they didn’t want their family to miss out on all the fun, so during Christmas in 2020 they invited all their family from both sides: and gave COVID-19 to every single one of them! What a Christmas gift :(

Things were going great, it was time to get a dog together, and the happy couple couldn’t come to a decision on which dog to adopt. Sarah wanted a conventional black lab; Aashish wanted a unique looking, extremely rare, nearly extinct type of a bulldog (for reasons unclear to any human being). Perhaps, Aashish secretly did not want a dog (Aashish has been unavailable for detailed comments on the matter), and thus...he thought a proposal may delay the dog decision.

On a beautiful spring day in April, 2022, in McConnells Mill State Park, with a breathtaking waterfall in the background and in front of close family (a super romantic gesture), Aashish asked Sarah to make him the happiest man on Earth, and be his bride! It was the best day of their lives when she said yes!

Since the beginning, Sarah and Aashish have enjoyed hiking together and spending time in the wilderness; on one of their many expeditions they happened to visit Estes Park to explore the Rocky Mountains. They felt an intense connection with that place, a strong force of nature drawing them closer to it, and, to each other. They both experience pure joy, peace and excitement when they are in the Rockies!

They would like to celebrate their holy union with their loved ones in the place where they feel like their best selves. Every one of you means the world to them, and they have grown as a couple, thanks to your presence, in their lives.

Please join them in June 2025 at Black Canyon Inn, to witness the coming together of science and art, surgery and music, tennis and singing, whiskey and vodka and of course, India and USA.
